software

We are developing

The following open source & cross platform software is being developed in-house and needs additional developers. WTactics will be used in conjunction with it as it is central to us. We also believe it can play a vital role for any customizable card game in general and development is done in a way so that it may be usable by as many game projects as possible. We’re proud over these software projects and hope you see the potential, use the software or contribute to: For us to change the world of card games once and for all we first must lay down the infrastructure and create the necessary tool sets. Here are some of them:

Sandscape

Allows you to play almost any card game directly in your webbrowser vs another player. Open source and open standard technologies. Will power WTactics quick webplay without requiring flash or anything to be installed on clients computer.

We are using

Most of us are open source advocates and love what the open source community is doing for the world. Whenever we are able we therefore choose to use libre & free software, which also happens to coincide with the goals of WTactics of being open, available and easy for the community to participate in. We use a variety of tools & technologies in the making of the game and those found below are the ones that are frequently popping up:

GNU/Linux

A wonderful OS and the primary choice for most of our devs because of it’s freedoms & stability. Check out for example Ubuntu & Arch.

Inkscape

A great cross-platform vector editor, slowly catching up to and replacing Adobe Illustrator. Mainly used for creating our card templates & logos.

Gimp

Versatile photo editor, replacing Adobe Photoshop in our camp. Used by us for most things image related and for adjusting card artwork.

Filezilla

Unsexy yet almost stable FTP client. Used to mod website and content on our own ftp-server.

WordPress

Most flexible blogging tool. It powers the blog part of our site.

Mediawiki

The people that brought us Wikipedia also powers our very own rules and design wiki. Solid software.

PhpBB

#1 world famous forum software. Powers the WTactics forums and keeps your discussions warm and safe.

AsciiDoc

We’re running this to create documentation, it generates PDF, XHTML, HTML5 and epub.

Mumble

Powerful voice-chat with little hassle. Used for our voice-meetings which it also records for later archiving.

Gnome Dia

Top of the line for creating diagrams, UML, flowcharts etc and easy to work with. It’s used by us for ER diagrams & to map out all kinds of relations.

FreeMind

Mindmapping software that does what it should and then some. Great for all kinds of thing related to development of a game, or pretty much anything really.

NetBeans IDE

For development, PHP/JS/CSS/HTML, bash scripts & writing docs.

git

Not only the fast but also the best version control system, written by the legend himself. We use this for tracking code changes.
