The rules for this game are currently being developed. The project aims to create a game that meets all of the design goals found in the General Design Document. Summed up: We want to create an easy to learn but hard to master customizable strategy game using cards.
Everyone that shares our vision is strongly encouraged to join the rule development process. We have all the graphics and other material at hand already – we “only” lack the basic rules. That’s where you come in to save the day.
the process
The idea is to let several individuals work a) alone or either b) join or c) form development teams in order to create the game rules and cards. Each team would work according to it’s own ideas, goals and understanding of how the game should be played. Each such unique take on the game is a development path. In essence, we give you the graphics, technical infrastructure and other help, while you or your team develop rules, create cards and playtest.
Every team that is serious about it’s work will also gain direct access to publish it’s work here on the site by updating the news section with thoughts on design decisions and issues concerning their own development path and relevant game design topics in general.
When we have one or several more solid rule systems that meet all the criteria in the GDD all of them will be extensively playtested and compared against each other from many different perspectives. Finally one of them will be picked as the official ruleset for WTactics.org. All others will however still remain archived at the site as optional ways and/or formats to play the game and will be perfectly forkable so it is easy to create another game should anyone be willing to do so.
participation
All are welcome to either join one development team or create one of their own. Ideally you’ll join an existing one unless of course you have ideas for a rule set that differs much from all the existing development paths. Please read all pages on this site and also all the current development paths in the wiki before contacting us to announce that you want to create a new team – we ignore all applications that are not serious.
rules & dev teams
Each development team creates it’s specific ruleset that it has the responsibility for. Keep that in mind when you read their work and that the text is usually written for the people working on that specific development path, and not as a finished and official document.
The available teams can be seen at the main page of our wiki.
