Ceasefire (Event)

Cost: 5

Text: No units (including the casters) may attack until the caster's next turn.

Notes: Could alternately be a spell

Artwork: A swordsman staring at the sword in his hand, a look of confusion on his face.

Version: 0.1

Standard disclaimer: I don't kid myself that it's a work of genius, but hopefully it'll give you something to discuss and rip apart and improve. :)

The cost is too high, but other than that it shouldn't be a problem.

I do worry a little bit about "game stalling" cards, but let's playtest it to see if it'll be a problem.

Would probably never ever be used as event unless in >2 player game. However, that option alone makes this a really exciting card as Event, so keep it as such.

Nice card.

(We actually have artwork thats pretty much identical to what you suggested, both a confused goblin amd also orc,so we'll need some other suggestion...)

Yeah, that art suggestion fitted back when it was a mystical ensorcellment. As an event notsomuch.

How about this?

That artwork a) has a background and b) is pretty much in another more abstract/less detailed/wtaercolourish style than ours.

Code: Select all
Cost: 3
Mark two allies in the same front. No creatures may attack until target players next turn.

I have a suggestion for the artwork.
Either we use the picture of the confused goblin, which I can't find in the trunk.
Or we use rouser-2 from the art. Path in the trunk: ~/trunk/unused artwork/BfW/portraits/goblins.
As it seems that he uses the ceasefire to get a drink. What do you think?

I'll upload the goblin to trunk soon. Using it is out of the question since it's already used ( viewtopic.php?f=8&t=75 )

I'm not convinced: We could take a picture of anyone doing anything (taking a shit, plucking a hen, eating, smelling a flower etc) and say that it's something that happens during a cease fire. What I'm after is that there is no obvious connection between taking a drink from a pouch and a cease fire. I'd expect that goblin to reward himself by something more joyous and explicit if there was a cease fire in a war. Think about it: What would be the first thing it would do - drink water? I think not.

I guess it would rather get drunk, or sing around a camp fire or whatever gobos do when they socialize... or take off the helmet or lay down arms. <-- Just some bad examples.

Of course we could use other art, but my suggestion has some advantages.
*We already "own" this picture which means that we do not need to buy new one.
*This card catches the flavour of a ceasefire.
Reasoning:
What is a ceasefire? A ceasefire (or truce) is a temporary stoppage of a war in which each side agrees with the other to suspend aggressive actions. (Copied from wikipedia.org, because I'm lazy.)
A ceasefire is a stop of a war. Now try to imagine the following. The goblin has fought a battle with some Empire-soldiers when a ceasefire is declared. The goblin has fought hard and long and has sweated much. The first what he does when he is in his encampment is to drink something and wash himself. Or he takes a drink of good strong wine which he stole from some Nobles.
And opposed to what you wrote. I think the first thing to do after a ceasefire, which is not a victory, is to drink&eat something and go to bed as your body exhausted himself through surviving.
Maybe the picture should be a bit changed, but for now it is good and after Christmas we have maybe the money for a new one.
Happy second Advent.
