Fraktionen und Rassen

Dark Legion = Finstere Legion
Undead = Untote (BfW)
Drakes = Draken (BfW)

House of Nobles = Adelshaus
Attitude ~ Verhalten, würde jedoch ein Wort, wie Tückebolde, bevorzugen
Humans = Menschen (BfW)
Dwarfs = Zwerge (BfW)

Gaia = Gaia
General = Allgemeines
Merfolk = Meervolk oder Merfolk lassen( wird verstanden und entspricht nicht der BfW Bezeichnung)
Humans (s.o.)

Red Banner = Die rote Flagge
General (s.o.)
Orcs = Orks (BfW)
Goblins = Kobolde (BfW)
Humans (s.o.)

Empire = Das Imperium (erinnert an Starwars) oder das Reich (könnte mit Tierreich verwechselt werden)

Dark Legion = Finstere Legion
oder vielleicht dunkle Legion?

House of Nobles = Adelshaus
Haus der Edlen oder Noblen? Man müsste Snowdrop fragen wieso er die Bezeichnung gewählt hat.

Attitude ~ Verhalten, würde jedoch ein Wort, wie Tückebolde, bevorzugen
Einstellung oder Verhalten. Tückebolde habe ich noch niemals gehört.

Merfolk = Meervolk oder Merfolk lassen( wird verstanden und entspricht nicht der BfW Bezeichnung)
Meermenschen und dann Meermann wäre auch eine Option.

Red Banner = Die rote Flagge
Oder das Rote Banner, wäre vielleicht besser.

Goblins = Kobolde (BfW)
Ich weiß nicht, was besser ist aber ich bin glaube ich von englischer Literatur verdorben.

Empire= Das Imperium
Reich könnte Erinnerungen an Deutschland 1933-45 wecken... Ich wäre für Imperium.

Yeah, it would, doubtless.

Also, reich is more like "kingdom" ("rike" in Swedish), isn't it? Or do you guys really use it as a synonym for "empire"? There's a huge difference between a kingdom and an empire, usually in size, but mostly in composition and global span. If Imperiu is a german word you should go with it probably...

That said, nazi-reich was indeed something that resembled an empire, and I guess the empire was the overall plan in the end.

First of I'm impressed Snowdrop, your German must be better than I thought.
"Königreich" translates to Kingdom, but Reich can also mean a realm like: "Das Reich Mordor" (The realm of Mordor) so it has a broader meaning. And yes you can use it as a synonym for Empire but Imperium would be better.

If snowdrop is reading this, it's maybe better to write most things in english and just a few things or details, which can't be translated lossless or doesn't make sense to be translated.

I think only "finster" and "düster" can describe the scary touch of undead and drakes a bit dangerous, too. Furthermore "dunkel" just sound like they are bad eluminated.

*mhm* I don't think so: http://www.dict.cc/?s=house+of and "Adel" is the historical equal to "nobels"

The main problem with "merfolk" is the fact, it's a fantasy name.

Sure you never heard that word before. it does not really exist anymore. I found it here: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/T%C3%BCcke and it's used her: http://www.spiegel.de/spiegel/spiegelspecialgeschichte/d-56767780.html
Using "attitude" as a breed will become a problem, we don't have an equal word and have to create a new one. "Attitüde" would not match.
The breed attitude haves 3 properties "Deceptive" (~"täuschend","betrügend"), "Buy other loyalty"(~"Treue einkaufen") and "Espionage" (~"Spionage"). So thay are "tückisch" and we need a word, describing a person being that. other synonyms here: http://de.wiktionary.org/wiki/T%C3%BCcke

Additional we could use "Weltreich" it's a synonym of "Imperium". This won't be evocative of National Socialistic German Labor Party.

I suggest the following translations:
Dark Legion = Legion der Finsternis
House of Nobles = Aristokraten //not a direct translation but should still fit the theme
Empire = Imperialisten //instead of speaking of the political body, speak of the inhabitants
Red Banner = Banner der Morgenröte //sorry, I need more epicness
Goblins = Goblins //Modern "Goblins" are different from "Kobolde"
Attitude = Charakteristiken

Yes, I agree.

Ravenchild wrote:Red Banner = Banner der Morgenröte //sorry, I need more epicness

this translation is a bit far-fetched and sounds very softened.

Ravenchild wrote:Goblins = Goblins //Modern "Goblins" are different from "Kobolde"

"Kobolde" is the translation, which BfW had used, and we use the same breed.

Legion der Finsternis, would be fine by me. So do we agree?
What about Haus/Liga der Aristokraten/Edlen? Doesn't the Empire have aristocrats as well?
I would be fine with Haus der Aristokraten. But we should rename the Haus-part.

I agree to Imperialisten. So this is finished.

Ravenchild wrote:

No, I do not agree. I would stick to Das Rote Banner.

I'm not sure about Kobolde either but, if its used in bfw then we should use it here too.

There are other forms of government than aristocracy that we can use for the empire. Aristocracy implies that there are several people (who are not elected) in power. So if we only have one king or one emperor for the empire, things different enough.

No, I do not agree. I would stick to Das Rote Banner.

And you think that sounds good?

Okay then we just need to agree upon the names for HoN and Banner.
It is a faithful translation of the red banner.
